11.25.14 The BIG 3
It is safe to say all people want three things.
→ To be heard, understood and to feel important
It only takes a moment to listen, and step to the “other side” to understand what someone is communicating. Validating an individuals point of view makes them feel heard and understood. It does not mean you ‘agree’ with their position, but that you do understand it based on their perspective. Doing this can make others feel important.
Importance comes in many forms from having a degree or several to a job that is meaningful. Some people value the corner office, and name on their door, while others are content to work virtual and have no physical presence in an office. Regardless of your “position” what do YOU do to make others feel important? Everyone deserves to be acknowledged and worthy of your time and attention.
